La Asociación de Usuarios y Consumidores de Información (ASUI)

La Asociación de Usuarios y Consumidores de Información (ASUI) translated as «The Association of Information Users and Consumers» (ASUI) is a non-profit organization with its own legal personality, independent assets, and full legal capacity to act. It is officially registered in the Register of Consumer and User Organizations of Castilla-La Mancha under registration number 1CM047.

The Association’s mission is to educate, protect, and promote the rights of information users and consumers. ASUI works to ensure not only access to information, but access to information that is clear, accurate, and reliable. It also safeguards users’ rights across all media, with particular emphasis on the digital environment and the specific needs of rural communities. This mission applies to information of any kind and across all fields of knowledge.

Our Main Objectives

Education

Promote education and awareness among information users and consumers regarding their rights and responsibilities in the use and consumption of information through training programs, workshops, and educational resources.

Advocacy

Protect consumers’ rights against unfair or misleading practices in the information sector, including false or deceptive advertising and the misuse of personal data.

Representation

Represent consumers at national and international forums related to information policy, and collaborate with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to improve legislation, standards, and industry practices.

Promotion of Transparency

Foster transparency and ethical standards in the creation, dissemination, and distribution of information by working with media organizations, digital platforms, and other content providers.

Research and Publications

Conduct and publish research on trends in the information market, the impact of emerging technologies on consumers, and other topics that support the Association’s mission.

Advice and Support

Provide guidance and assistance to users and consumers facing issues related to the use of information, including mediation services and legal support where appropriate.

Access to Information

Promote equitable access to information for all users and consumers, regardless of their economic circumstances, geographic location, or any other personal condition.
