The animal observation and welfare project applied to the agricultural field at Granja Cero Carbón, nominated for «The Splunkie Awards»

The animal observation and welfare project developed by ASUI at the Granja Cero Carbón, located in Iriépal, Guadalajara, has been nominated for «The Splunkie Awards», annual awards given by Splunk, the leading real-time data analysis platform.

The awards recognize the most innovative, creative, and impactful use of their data platform, a tool designed to collect, monitor, index and analyze large volumes of data and transform raw information into useful information. The awards ceremony will take place within the framework of Splunk’s major annual user conference, to be held from September 14 to 17 in the American city of Denver, Colorado.

The application was accepted in the Visionary Award category and, subsequently, the Splunk team, which belongs to Cisco, considered that the initiative also fit into the Change Agent Award category, intended for initiatives with a positive social or environmental impact.

What the project consists of

This project combines animal welfare, sustainability and applied research through the use of data analysis technologies, behavioral observation, early socialization with humans, cooperative management and environmental enrichment aimed at improving animal welfare. Currently, the project includes the monitoring of 21 animals and the progressive incorporation of observation and data analysis tools and transportation with long-range communications (LORA).

It is designed to integrate information from environmental sensors, observation systems and monitoring tools with the aim of improving decision-making and generating knowledge applicable to the agricultural field. Its activity can be followed publicly through https://tupollito.com and the channel https://www.twitch.tv/tupollito_com.

The «Splunkie Awards» are annual awards that recognize both individual clients and technical teams as well as global business partners of the company or NGOs. They have prestige in the field of technological and computer infrastructure, due, among other things, to the fact that they validate real success stories.
